A very therapeutic love story, two individuals with enormous wholes in their lives and their hearts, who have no reason to be together yet despite it all are drawn to one another. Rachel who lost her childhood to divorce, and had to fill the void left by her father's departure and her mother's decent into depression, has grown to be a very successful yet very guarded individual. Courtney had once had it all, a loving union to the woman of her dreams, for ten years they enjoyed happiness until a tragic accident took the most precious part of Courtney's life from her. This book is a slow build, with each character showing believable restraint and believable conflict as they begin to realize their feelings for one another, and each also has the maturity to understand that their love from one another can never fully heal, and they love each other enough to accept that. I enjoy the fairy tale romance as well as anyone, but this book dares to take journey down the paths that too many unfortunately find themselves, hoping that one day they can love again; themselves as much as another.

This is the second time that I have read this book and I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed both times. The story line is about coping with loss of loved ones . The mental resistance and fear that moving forward in life will result in a loss of wonderful memories. This is a love story about two totally different women who have loads of personal baggage, but somehow fall and love and help each other survive. It a good romance, with its share of sadness, happiness, lust and love.
I've read a few Georgia Beers books, and never fail to relate to her characters - this book was no different. I really felt for Courtney, who has lost her partner due to a car crash, and the confusion and difficulty she has with moving on with her life, and the reluctance she feels to do so.
Rachel is a piece of work to begin with, but anyone who loves animals is sure to have a soft heart, and the more we learn about her, the more human she becomes.
The other characters, such as Courneys best friend, and Rachels tenant help flesh out the story and are lots of fun in their own right(s).
Georgia writes characters with wit, charm sex appeal and personal intergrity.
I am a big fan of Georgia's novels. Not so much her short stories though to be honest. I did not enjoy 96 Hours either. Mine though is a nice read. I recommend it. Georgia's writing style cannot be beat. Mine is sweet story about second chances at love. It delves into the struggle one woman goes through after the death of her partner. Good stuff.
I also highly recommend Georgia's new novel, Snowglobe. It is a romantic comedy and you will find yourself laughing out loud throughout the book.
I have read most of Georgia Beers books and I thoroughly enjoy them. They provide me with a perfect diversion when I need a few minutes break from my life. This book is not as good as the others really for one reason the characters are just not as flushed out as they needed to be believable. She did a much better job in Zero Visibility. Still it was a super fun read and I recommend it.
One of the newer themes of the lesfic romance genre is getting over the untimely death of a long-term partner and finding new love. That's the theme of Mine by one of the best of the contemporary lesfic romance writers. As usual, Beers creates believable characters in interesting, realistic situations. She deals seriously with many of the issues of young widowhood.
If this theme is one you are drawn to, then this is definitely worth a read. I'm not sure how many more of these types of books I'd want to read because they are pretty painful. But I'm glad I read this one.
A good, solid love story. A romantic, loving, sometimes difficult story that flows well.
Georgia Beers knows what her readers like and provides plenty of it in this story. She knows the balance between love, romance and sex and gives us all of those in exactly the right amounts.
Sex doesn't equal love, and the author knows this and shows it in the story of two flawed women who could not be more different, which seems to be a trend in Beers' stories. It works, though and it works so well that I'll shortly be on the hunt for the next Georgia Beers story.
Courtney McAllister has been unsuccessfully trying to pull her life back together for the three years since the death of her partner Theresa in an accident. Moving on is a hard thing to do though. Therapy and her group for surviving spouses help, but not enough. She's still living in the house she and Theresa bought together and the memories come too easily. Her friend Amelia finally convinces Courtney that selling the house and finding something smaller is a step in the right direction and that's when she meets Rachel Hart, Million Dollar Producer of real estate sales. Rachel is consumed with her career and not interested in long term commitments beyond her regular volunteer work at the animal shelter. She has no family or friends to distract her from selling property until she meets Courtney. Each of these women is searching for something that she can call hers. Courtney is looking for a new life, possibly a new love. Rachel is hoping for someone who will put her first and that might be Courtney if she can finally lay Theresa to rest.
Beers has mastered the genre of romance writing. Another in her series of novels that explore the emotions that go into building relationships, once again she has created appealing characters tied together in a plausible plot. This time she shows two women who have shut themselves off for different reasons and then explores how they help each other to change their lives. Beers is a believer in the concept of the traditional romance formula, so the reader looking for that should find this book entertaining and satisfying.
